Philippians 2:1-4 If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.---- Man this just hit me like a ton of bricks. Currently I am trying to figure out how to be a dad to my 14 year old daughter. She is amazing but she is growing into this independent young woman that is stepping further away from her daddy's protection. While I expected this I had no idea it would affect me so. This verse brings it all into perspective though. In our ministry here at the ranch it is easy to think of others, when your first daughter is growing up and away its not so easy. It's really hard actually. It's hard to not get caught up in the "what about me" routine. It's hard to not think about how it effects me and how I relish the hand holding moments of the past. Thank you Jesus for helping me understand that she is yours and not mine and that she is purposed with greater things than being my daughter.Thank you Jesus for helping me be the earthy dad that she needs. Jesus I hope this helps other fathers understand their purpose.
