“CDR is a place where kids can be kids. The children we serve at City Rescue Mission have been forced to grow up all too quickly. We constantly look for ways to give them opportunities that will unlock their dreams and the child within. For the last couple of years we've brought these children through the seasonal programs at the ranch and the kids can't wait to come back! One boy in particular was lost in his own shell and unresponsive to anyone until he started the program. By the third day the boy was rapping and making up songs, talking and he even told us he wanted to play football. The next year he joined the middle school football team. Later, he even helped other kids get excited about the horse ranch and participated in a leadership role at the ranch. CDR unlocked his dreams and his leadership skills that otherwise would have remained untapped inside him. These kids don't have to repeat the cycle of poverty and homeless. The time they spend at CDR helps give them hope for a better future.”
